Recipes: Kadaif - a Turkish delight
Ingredients:
* 1 / 2 kilo kantaifi
* 1 / 2 pound of crushed walnuts
* 1 / 4 cup bread crumbs
* 3 teaspoons of cinnamon.
* 1 teaspoon of crushed carnation cloves
* 1 teaspoon lemon zest
* 1 / 4 cup sugar
* 500 g of fresh melted butter
For the syrup:
* 3.1 / 2 cup sugar
* 1 / 2 cup glucose
* 2 cups water
* 2 sticks of cinnamon and lemon peel (not zest)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl mix all dry ingredients .
2. Unfold the kantaifi and cut a length of about 14 cm. Take a strip and where our fingers are glued to unstick the fiber. As it lays flat add about half a teaspoon of the mixture of the nuts. Wrap into a loose roll and place in a well buttered baking pan.
3. Continue until you run out of our material by placing the kantaifi rolls tightly put one next to the other, because the baking will make it to cringe.
4. With a spoon, throw a little bit of the melted butter over the to kantaifi rolls to grease them well.
5. Bake at 180 degrees in a preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until it get a lightly golden colour.
6. In a saucepan add the ingredients for the syrup and leave 5 minutes from the time it starts to boil.
7. When the baked kantaifi is ready add the syrup with a spoon throwing a little bit as well. The Kantaifi must be hot, and our syrup,too. Let it absorb the syrup and do not cover the pan so as to be kantaifi crisp .
